HP announces a convertible Android tablet

HP has announced a new Android device with a detachable keypad, enabling it to transform between notebook and tablet.

It’s called the HP SlateBook x2 and was revealed alongside a convertible Windows-based computer.

Google launches streaming music service in the USA

Google has used its annual Google I/O developer conference to reveal a new streaming music subscription service called Google Play Music All Access.

At the moment it’s just available in the USA and will cost $9.99 per month, although early adopters receive a $2 discount. Customers can store up to 20,000 of their own songs and listen to them alongside millions of online tracks.

BlackBerry announces new handset as it expands BBM to iOS and Android

BlackBerry is launching Android and Apple iOS apps for its BlackBerry Messenger service this summer.

It means that free BBM instant messaging will no longer be exclusively available on BlackBerry handsets but will also work across other platforms.

Nokia announces Lumia 925 smartphone with new camera features

Nokia has launched a new Windows Phone 8 smartphone in London this morning. It’s called the Nokia Lumia 925 and is described as ‘a new interpretation’ of the Nokia Lumia 920.

Unlike the previous flagship device, the Lumia 925 is lighter and has a partly metal body along with an AMOLED screen.

EE and Ipsos MORI defend their privacy policies following Sunday Times report

EE - the mobile network run by Everything Everywhere Ltd - and research company Ipsos MORI have both defended their privacy policies following a Sunday Times report.

The report, which was headlined “Secrets of 27m mobile phones offered to police”, said location data and other information about millions of EE mobile phone customers had been offered for sale to the Metropolitan Police.
