Vodafone Global Enterprise – the part of Vodafone that manages the communications needs of larger multinational customers – has acquired two telecom expense management companies: Quickcomm, based in Australia, and TnT Expense Management from the USA. It says these two acquisitions will propel Vodafone into being a leading TEM company for multinational organisations. The total deal has been valued at $9.7 million (just over £6 million).

Good Technology, which enables organisations to connect a wide range of devices to their corporate networks, has published its first quarterly data report. The Q3 metrics report shows the Apple iPhone 4 is already the most frequently-activated device among Good’s enterprise customers, followed by the iPhone 3GS.

Rugged mobile phone manufacturer Sonim Technologies has launched a new device, the Sonim XP1300 Core, which it's describing as the world's first IP-68 rated GSM handset that's fully submersible in 2 metres of water. Previous devices, such as the Sonim XP3, were only rated to IP57.

The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority in the United Arab Emirates says BlackBerry services can continue to operate as normal because they're now compliant with the UAE's telecommunications regulatory framework. Certain BlackBerry services had been threatened with closure this month after security concerns were raised in August.

The GSMA – an inernational organisation that represents the mobile industry – launched the GSMA mWomen programme yesterday. It's designed to bring the socio-economic benefits of mobile technology to women in developing markets. The scheme is a partnership between the global mobile industry and the international development community that aims to bring the 'power of mobile' to more than 150 million women within three years.
