Nokia has signed a patent license agreement with Apple that’ll see all patent litigation settled between the companies. The specific terms of the contract are confidential, although there’ll be a one-off payment payable by Apple and on-going royalties paid by Apple to Nokia for the term of the agreement.

The two companies have been taking legal action against each other in a number of courts since 2009, including complaints to the US International Trade Commission.

Stephen Elop, president and chief executive officer of Nokia, said “We are very pleased to have Apple join the growing number of Nokia licensees. This settlement demonstrates Nokia's industry leading patent portfolio and enables us to focus on further licensing opportunities in the mobile communications market.”
