As part of the annual financial results released today by Deutsche Telekom, T-Mobile UK has also announced its full-year results for 2009.

The company's total customer base grew by 2.3% year-on-year to 17.178 million, with a net total addition of 392,000 customers. The fourth quarter saw 570,000 net customer additions, giving T-Mobile UK its best-ever December. Contract customer numbers rose 0.4% over the year to 4.1 million; the prepay customer base grew 3.0% y-o-y to 13.1 million.

Total revenue for the year was £3.0 billion, down from £3.2 billion in 2008, with the drop blamed partially on lower termination rates. Data revenue was up over 40% and is now a quarter of the company's ARPU.

Richard Moat, Managing Director of T- Mobile UK, said, "We have ended the year with strong customer growth and a notable improvement in performance in the second half compared with the first half of the year. During the second half, we have focused our market investments, refreshed our customer offers, improved our operating efficiency and leveraged our direct distribution channels. This has resulted in an increased customer base, strong growth in our data revenues, a marked increase in customer loyalty and a sharp increase in our profitability in the second half of the year."
