Memories of Stephen Bates’s awkward BBC interviews were soon forgotten as the touchscreen Z10 appeared and quickly hit the shelves of UK retailers.

UK mobile virtual network operator Ovivo Mobile is using online investment platform Crowdcube to find new financial backers.
Ovivo, which was founded by Dariush Zand last year, offers its customers a bundle of free calls, text messages and data usage each month.

UK virtual network Ovivo Mobile, which launched its ad-funded mobile phone service earlier this year, has admitted it’s had to change its pricing model due to consumer fraud.
In a blog post that was also sent as an email to the MVNO’s customers, Ovivo Mobile CEO Dariush Zand said recent tariff changes were necessary to prevent the company from being jeopardised by a small group of fraudulent users.

The idea of a free mobile phone network is a dream for many consumers – and potentially a nightmare for traditional mobile operators. Most notably we saw Blyk launch an ad-funded network in the UK five years ago, with the MVNO closing in 2009 as the company’s business model changed.
In this week’s podcast feature I’ve been talking to someone who’s just launched a brand new mobile service that’s giving away calls, text messages and data in return for advertising. The company is Ovivo Mobile, it launched last month and it’s currently targeting students to sign up.
