Google has announced a new note-taking service called Google Keep, which is currently available as an Android application and via the web.

The company describes it as an online equivalent of ‘sticky notes’, with information synchronised across all compatible devices and available via an on-screen widget.

Google Keep can also transcribe voice memos and can store photographs.

Rival services that operate across a number of different platforms include Evernote and Microsoft OneNote. In addition, Apple offers an iOS application called Notes.
