O2 launches a new European 'roaming' deal

O2 UK has created a new international roaming deal for customers with a ‘pay monthly’ contract. O2 Travel will launch in July 2012, providing customers with fixed charges when they travel in Europe.

Voice calls will use minutes from the customer’s standard tariff allowance with a one-off 50p charge per call. Data usage will be charged at 25MB per day for £1.99.

Sally Cowdry, Marketing & Consumer Director for O2 in the UK, said “We know people want to able to relax and enjoy their holidays without worrying about complicated phone charges. With simple charges and a generous 25MB data bundle, O2 Travel provides a great way for our customers to keep in touch and share their holiday moments with family and friends without having to worry about the costs.”

The company says mobile internet usage on holiday is growing at more than 100% a year, with 60% of customers who use the mobile internet in the UK now also using it when abroad.
