Nokia has had a busy few days. First came the Asha 501, a ‘smartphone lite’ that introduced developers to a new version of the company’s Asha platform. This was followed by the Lumia 928, which is a Windows Phone 8 handset exclusive to Verizon Wireless in the USA. It’s quite like the Nokia 920, so we’re not missing out too much.

Sony shows a return to profit in its latest annual results

Sony’s annual results announcement for the year until 31st March 2013 shows a return to full-year profits, which is a notable change from its losses in recent years.

Net profit for the financial year was 43 billion yen (£279 million), while the previous year’s figures showed a 457 billion yen (almost £3 billion) loss.

The wristwatch phone isn't a new idea… but is it the right time for the Apple iWatch?

Apple is rumoured to be planning a wearable mobile device: the iWatch. Whether it’s an iPhone accessory or a stand-alone mobile phone… or a figment of overactive imaginations… remains to be seen, although press reports suggest it could be launched by the end of 2013.

2013 will be a breakthrough year for Sony in the mobile sector, says CEO

Sony Mobile used this year’s Mobile World Congress to emphasise its commitment to producing premium smartphones and tablets.

The company also started distributing its flagship Xperia Z smartphone and announced that its Xperia Tablet Z would launch globally in Q2 2013.
