Consumers blame security, delays and complications for abandoning m-commerce purchases

A new survey from the USA has published some of the reasons why consumers are giving up on mobile shopping transactions.

The 2013 Mobile Consumer Insights study, which was conducted on behalf of payment technology company Jumio, found that 68% of smartphone and tablet owners had attempted to make a purchase on their device. However, 66% of these people had failed to complete a mobile-based transaction.

By 2020, wireless internet devices will outnumber people by a ratio of 4 to 1

New figures from ABI Research show there are more than 10 billion devices with wireless connections today.

This figure is expected to treble in the next seven years, reaching over 30 billion devices by 2020.

Apple leads tablet sales for first quarter of 2013

Worldwide shipments of tablet devices grew by 142.4% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2013, according to a new report from the International Data Corporation.

49.2 million devices were shipped during the first three months of the year; more than total tablet sales in the first half of 2012.

Growth for Android and Windows Phone in the UK

Figures from Kantar Worldpanel ComTech show that Microsoft’s Windows Phone platform is gaining market share in the UK, although Android and Apple still dominate.

The first quarter of 2013 saw Windows-based devices accounting for 7% of smartphone sales in the first quarter of 2013, up from 2.9% a year ago.
