LG creates secure 'bring your own device' version of Optimus Vu smartphone in USA

LG Electronics has created a version of its Android-based Optimus Vu smartphone that offers business users a secure device without affecting their personal information.

It’s based on the US version of the Optimus Vu - known as the Intuition - and has been created in partnership with Verizon Wireless and VMWare.

US Department of Defense approves BlackBerry 10 and Samsung Knox devices

Samsung Electronics and BlackBerry have both announced that some of their products have been approved for use in U.S. Department of Defense networks following testing by the Defense Information Systems Agency.

Android-powered Samsung Knox-enabled tablets and smartphones have been given approval, as have devices running BlackBerry 10. This currently covers the Samsung Galaxy S4, BlackBerry Z10, BlackBerry Q10 and BlackBerry PlayBook.

The issue of choosing the right MDM solution has become more and more pressing, especially for companies implementing a Bring Your Own Device policy. The market place is becoming increasingly crowded with 50 or so vendors who now position themselves as MDMs. Some vendors offer application sharing, some multitenant management, other vendors have a heritage in security or a different strength all together. For organisations considering which option is best it is important to discern between the best known names or the most expensive solutions and select an MDM solution that is fit for purpose.
