Samsung reportedly planning to merge bada with Tizen

It’s reported that Samsung is working on merging its own bada mobile operating system with the Tizen OS. Samsung announced bada just over two years ago, while Tizen is a newer Linux-based open source project with development led by a technical steering group composed of Intel and Samsung.

A report by Forbes.com quotes Tae-Jin Kang, Senior Vice President of Samsung’s Contents Planning Team, as saying “We have an effort that will merge bada and Tizen” although no end date was given.

Tizen is expected to support mobile applications written using bada’s software development kit.

At least one Tizen-powered Samsung device is expected this year, according to the report.
