Samsung has announced a new music service at the same time as its new Android-powered Galaxy SIII flagship smartphone has gone on sale. The Music Hub, which is available in the UK and other European markets, offers a combination of music streaming and cloud-based online music storage. It’s currently exclusive to the Samsung Galaxy SIII, although other devices will be added in the near future.

Music Hub is based on technology from mSpot, the mobile content service provider that was acquired by Samsung earlier this month.

TJ Kang, Senior Vice President of Samsung Electronics’ Media Solution Center, said “When you ask yourself, ‘what do I want to listen to?’ there is now one simple answer, for every mood, every place and everyone. With the new Music Hub, we’re bringing the joy back to music - listening, collecting and sharing.”

The basic version of the Music Hub Store offers a 19 million song catalogue powered by 7digital, with customers able to buy songs and albums that are stored in the cloud and made available on all registered devices. A premium service for £9.99 per month lets customers upload their existing music collection and also enjoy unlimited streaming from the Music Hub catalogue.
