Fujitsu prepares European smartphone for seniors

Fujitsu Limited is planning its first major smartphone move outside Japan with the STYLISTIC S01, a handset designed for senior users that’ll initially be available via Orange in France from June 2013.

It's an Android-powered device with a 1.4GHz chip, a 4-inch screen and an 8.1-megapixel camera.

New 5G research centre at University of Surrey receives £35 million

A new 5G Innovation Centre at the University of Surrey in Guildford has been given the go-ahead.

The research centre, which will support the development of fifth-generation mobile communications in the UK, is receiving a total of £35 million in funding.

Fujitsu prepares to turn almost any mobile phone into a 3D camera

Fujitsu Laboratories says it’s developing a technology to record stereoscopic 3D images by using a special attachment that fits over the lens of standard mobile phones.

More details will be announced at the International Symposium on Consumer Electronics in the USA next month.

Fujitsu produces smartphone running PC version of Windows 7

It looks as though the Ultra-Mobile PC could be making a comeback.

Fujitsu has announced a new device called the Windows 7 F-07C mobile phone. It's 125mm × 61mm × 19.8mm with a slide-out QWERTY keyboard and weighs 218g, running Windows 7 Home Premium on a 1.2GHz Intel Atom processor.

Microsoft previews new 'Mango' version of Windows Phone OS

Microsoft has officially previewed the next major release of the Windows Phone 7 platform. It's code-named 'Mango' and will include more than 500 new features.

This update will be available free to existing Windows Phone 7 customers and is expected to be included on new phones from the autumn. Those new phones will be produced by Microsoft's existing partners - including Nokia - and by new manufacturers including Acer, Fujitsu and ZTE.
