A court in Germany has ruled that Motorola Mobility mobile phones have infringed a Microsoft patent. It’s the first defeat for Motorola Mobility since its acquisition by Google was completed earlier this week.
The patent allowed mobile phones to send text messages that were longer than a network would normally permit by breaking them up and then reassembling them.

BlueVia, Telefonica’s developer program, has announced that Telefónica will be closing its App Stores in Germany, Spain and Argentina at the end of the month.
This affects the O2 App Store in Germany and Movistar App Stores in Spain and Argentina.

It’s reported that Microsoft’s patent dispute with Motorola Mobility has resulted in Microsoft moving its European logistics operations from Germany to the Netherlands.
Microsoft is currently being sued by Motorola Mobility over video-related patents, with a decision due on 17th April.

BMW and Vodafone have announced a partnership that’ll see all new BMW cars in Germany fitted with a special machine-to-machine SIM card.
The Vodafone SIM will work with the BMW ConnectedDrive telematics system, offering a personal concierge service, traffic updates and an emergency call function.

Apple has switched off the ‘push email’ part of iCloud in Germany. It follows a court ruling earlier this month in favour of a patent held by Motorola Mobility.
Customers using iCloud in Germany can still receive email messages but now need to configure the service to check regularly.
