The latest MEF Global Consumer Survey shows the UK as a leader when it comes to mobile commerce.
91% of consumers in the UK said they'd used a mobile device to engage in commerce, either for research or for purchasing. Over 8,500 people were contacted in Brazil, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Qatar, Singapore, South Africa, the UK and the USA, with all markets reporting at least 72% of consumers involved in mobile commerce.

The British Retail Consortium and Google have launched a joint 'Online Retail Monitor' to provide insights into online shopping trends.
It reveals that the total volume of online retail-related searches in the UK grew by 29% in the first quarter of 2011 compared with the same quarter a year earlier. However, mobile retail search traffic rose by 181% over the same period. Overall, 11% of total retail searches in the first quarter of 2011 were made on a mobile device.

10 million online consumers in the UK made a transaction using a mobile device last year, according to the results of a survey commissioned by customer behaviour analysis business Tealeaf.
Shopping was the most popular m-commerce activity, although financial transactions, travel bookings and insurance payments were also popular. The average consumer completed 4.4 mobile transactions per month.

Telefonica and eBay have launched a global deal that’ll see eBay's mobile application loaded onto most mobile devices sold via O2 UK.
It's the first mobile pre-load deal agreed by eBay anywhere in the world and is also the first time Telefónica has made an app available to smartphone and feature phone customers.
