Iain, James and Mark begin this week's podcast with Apple's recent iOS 8 revelation and its plan to acquire Beats Electronics.
They then move on to discuss Samsung's Tizen-powered smartphone, a new flagship device from LG and the latest Microsoft Surface tablet - as well as a network takeover in Ireland, BlackBerry’s M2M moves and UK price changes for Vodafone.

LG has launched its G3 smartphone this week, providing a successor to last year’s LG G2. The ‘G’ prefix is used for LG’s premium devices.
Running Android on a Qualcomm quad-core processor, the LG G3 has a 5.5-inch 2560 x 1440 pixel display.

LG and Motorola have announced the first two smart watches designed to use Google’s new Android Wear operating system.
Both products are expected to go on sale in the summer, although no UK plans have been confirmed.

Bye-bye Barcelona, hello Hanover

As one show closes, so another show opens.
It’s now more than a week since we bid a sad farewell to Mobile World Congress 2014 – I imagine hotel rooms for 2nd to 5th March 2015 are already being booked – but there’s now CeBIT in Germany to look forward to. Prime Minister David Cameron kicked things off last night with a speech that talked about UK-German partnerships, more funding for research around the ‘Internet of Things’ and the development of 5G technology.
