Garmin could close smartphone business next year

Garmin nuvifone M20Garmin's Chief Financial Officer Kevin Rauckman has admitted to Reuters that the company's nüvifone navigation-focussed smartphone hasn't done as well as expected. In an interview he said the company would decide within the next six months whether it would continue investing in its partnership with Asus.

Mr Rauckman also said sales of the company's stand-alone navigation devices are being hit by competition from GPS-equipped mobile phones, although it is gaining market share.
