Vodafone launches its own content channel on Android Market

Vodafone has launched an own-brand content channel on Google’s Android Market, creating the first such channel in Europe.

The Vodafone channel will appear as a ‘tab’ on the Android Market home page. It’ll offer it offers customers a selection of Vodafone services along with other news, sport, information and gaming apps. A number of the apps will be offered on an exclusive, free or discounted basis.

Lee Epting, Vodafone Group’s Content Services Director, said “Together with Google, Vodafone has made it really simple for customers to get to the essential apps they can trust. More than 75 million Vodafone customers around the world are regularly using the mobile internet, and we are committed to giving them the best possible experience. This focus on quality over quantity helps deliver on that commitment.”

The Android Market Vodafone channel is available in the UK, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Spain, with launches in Greece, Ireland and Portugal planned.
