Number of mobile users accessing adult content is expected to rise 30% in next four years

More people watching adult videos, photos and live cams on their phones

A new report from Juniper Research shows that 250 million people will use their smartphone or tablet to access adult content by 2017, an increase of over 30% from current usage. This increase is expected to result from high-definition, niche-centric products for consumers as well as increasing availability of mobile-optimised free content.

The report notes that mobile devices are now key distribution channels for companies that provide adult services online. With tablets increasingly seen as ‘personal’ devices rather than shared household devices, it’s expected that consumption of adult content on these tablets will increase.

Siân Rowlands, Research Analyst at Juniper Research and author of the report, said “Whilst Juniper expects the total number of users of both desktop and mobile adult content to remain broadly consistent, we expect to see continued migration to smartphones and tablets, as more enhanced, tailored content makes its way onto these personal devices.”

However, the report also points out that proposed mandatory content blocks from UK Internet Service Providers was likely to restrict future growth from casual users.
