Making a text donation to the Pakistan Floods Appeal

The Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC), a UK-based organisation that brings together a number of humanitarian aid agencies, is enabling mobile phone users to donate £5 by SMS text message.

Customers in the UK are being encouraged to text the word GIVE to 70707, which will donate £5. This, and a standard network message charge, will be added to the customer's mobile account or deducted from their pay-as-you-go credit. (Terms and conditions apply).

In addition, Everything Everywhere, the company that runs Orange and T-Mobile, has launched an appeal with UNICEF to support the Pakistan children’s flood appeal. Customers of those two networks can give £2.50 by texting the word DONATE to 864233 (which spells 'unicef' on most phone keypads).
