NASA astronaut uses Foursquare to 'check in' from the International Space Station

Location-based social network Foursquare has just had its first check-in from space. Commander Douglas H Wheelock, who's on NASA Expedition 25 to the International Space Station, checked into Foursquare from the ISS and received the new NASA Explorer badge. The badge has now also been made available for space-related check-ins on Earth.

However, as with other Foursquare check-ins, Commander Wheelock will not be named 'mayor' of the ISS until he checks in again.
