New Android smartphones from Sony Ericsson

Sony Ericsson has added two new Android-powered smartphones to its Xperia range. Both devices will run Android v2.3 when they arrive in the autumn.

The aluminium-framed Xperia ray, which has a 3.3-inch screen and is less than 1cm thick, includes a 8.1-megapixel camera and 1GHz processor.

Designed for an ‘active life’, the water-resistant Xperia active also has a 1GHz processor. It has a 3-inch screen, a 5-megapixel camera and a number of pre-loaded sports applications.

Steve Walker, Chief Marketing Officer at Sony Ericsson, said “Today’s announcement demonstrates that we continue to deliver a portfolio to make the Sony Ericsson experience available to a broad range of consumers. As the Android platform gains market share in Asia Pacific, the Xperia portfolio is well positioned to deliver consumers a unique and differentiated experience.”
