HTC quarterly results show a return to net profit

HTC Corporation has published financial results for the final quarter of 2013.

Quarterly revenue was NT$42.9 billion (£862 million), with quarterly net profit of NT$310 million (just over £6 million). The company made an operating loss of NT$1.6 billion (£32 million). All those figures are down from the same quarter in 2012.

However, the profit figure is an improvement from the previous quarter in 2013, when HTC made a net loss after tax of NT$2.97 billion and an operating loss of NT$3.50 billion.

Peter Chou, HTC’s CEO, said “We will continue to stay focused on making the best smartphone and building a compelling mid-range portfolio. Meanwhile, we are going to communicate better with consumers.”

According to HTC, the first quarter of 2014 is expected to generate revenue between NT$34 billion and NT$36 billion.
