Porsche Design and BlackBerry announce their P’9983 luxury smartphone

Porsche Design and BlackBerry have announced their third jointly-produced luxury mobile phone. It’s called the Porsche Design P’9983 Smartphone from BlackBerry.

This new phone runs the BlackBerry 10 operating system on a 1.5 GHz dual-core Qualcomm processor and has a glass-like QWERTY keyboard. There’s a 3.1-inch (720 x 720 pixel) screen, an 8 megapixel camera and 64GB of expandable storage; a similar spec to the BlackBerry Q10.

Juergen Gessler, CEO of the Porsche Design Group, said “The Porsche Design P’9983 smartphone from BlackBerry makes a statement about its owner’s impeccable taste and drive for achievement and success, as well as discernment in making the right choices with products that help them stay on top. Yet again, the collaboration with BlackBerry has led to a product that blends style and functionality to provide a true luxury experience.”

The Porsche Design P’9983 smartphone will be available from Porsche Design stores and from selected network operators and retailers worldwide within the next couple of weeks. Online pricing is €1,650 (around £1,305).

There have been three smartphones produced by the Porsche Design and BlackBerry partnership: the P’9981 in 2011 and the P’9982 last year. Both ran the Blackberry 7 OS.
