Archbishop says mobile phones are weakening community life

Archbishop Vincent Nichols, the Catholic Church’s Archbishop of Westminster, says telephone conversations weaken relationships and text messages are removing our ability to build communities.

Those shocking headlines underline an important message from the Archbishop, who’s concerned that people are losing social skills because of their reliance on electronic communication. He says “too much exclusive use of electronic information dehumanises what is a very, very important part of community life and living together” and warns that online communities are “not rounded communication so it won't build a rounded community”.
