Telefonica publishes its annual results

Telefónica, O2's parent, has published its annual results for 2009. It says net profit was up 2.4% in 2009 to 7.8 billion Euro. Revenue was up 0.3%. Telefonica Europe’s total customer base reached 49.2 million, up 6.9% year-on-year, with mobile customers up 2.9 million to 44.1 million.

In the UK, O2 ended the year with 21.3 million fixed-line and mobile connections, up 5.1% year-on-year. UK revenue was up 3.5% year-on-year to 6.5 billion Euro.
