Mobile train tickets gaining momentum

CrossCountry trains is the latest company to introduce mobile phone ticketing. Customers who want to travel between Edinburgh and York can now purchase tickets online and have them sent as a special barcode to their mobile phone. Customers simply show the m-ticket on their mobile phone at the ticket barrier or to the train manager. The company says it hopes to roll-out m-ticketing across all its services if this initial trial proves successful. We talked about mobile ticketing on podcast number 110 last year; click here to listen again. [Press release]
