Samsung now takes legal action against Apple in Japan and Australia

Samsung Electronics has filed preliminary injunction motions in the Tokyo District Court of Japan and the New South Wales Registry in Australia, asking for an immediate injunction preventing the sale of Apple’ s iPhone 4S. The move follows similar motions earlier this month in France and Italy. In addition, Samsung has asked the Australian court to overturn its recent preliminary injunction against the Galaxy Tab 10.1.

The Japanese request, which also wants to block the sale of iPhone 4 and iPad 2 devices, involves one High Speed Packet Access standard-related patent and three user interface patents.

In a statement, Samsung said “Apple has continued to violate our patent rights and free ride on our technology. We will no longer stand idly by and will steadfastly protect our intellectual property.”
