HTC promises improved smartphone connectivity with home entertainment equipment

HTC Corporation has announced a new certification programme called HTC Connect. It’ll enable consumer electronics companies to offer improved sound and visual connectivity between their equipment and HTC devices. The first HTC Connect-certified products use DLNA connections, although the scheme is expected to include Bluetooth, NFC, wireless speakers and in-car systems in the future.

Audio/video receivers and wireless speakers from Pioneer Electronics are the first HTC Connect compatible products. Pioneer already produces equipment that works with the rival Apple AirPlay wireless system.

Kouji Kodera, chief product officer at HTC, said “The vision for HTC Connect is to allow our customers to easily stream their favorite high-quality video and audio from their smartphone into their home or car. This new initiative will build upon HTC’s innovation in smartphones with leading consumer electronics brands.”
