O2 reveals compensation for customers affected by UK network problems

O2 UK has updated its blog with details of the reparation being offered after last week’s network outage. Around 7 million O2 customers were unable to make or receive calls, use text messaging or connect to the internet between Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning.

The company says it’s identified all the customers whose mobile devices could not connect and is offering a discount “as a gesture of goodwill and to say sorry”.

Customers on a ‘pay monthly’ contract will receive 10% off their July subscription charge. This is the equivalent of three free days and will be applied on September’s bills. Meanwhile, customers using pre-pay accounts will receive 10% extra credit on their first top-up in September 2012.

In addition, all O2 customers will receive a £10 voucher that can be spent in O2 stores.
