The UK’s most innovative mobile company is OpenSignal

Yesterday afternoon at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, crowdsourced coverage map provider OpenSignal was named the UK’s most innovative mobile company.

Five finalists took place in a final pitch and judging session as part of the Smart UK Project: alongside OpenSignal was smartphone charger designer Made in Mind, secure payment service Paddle, remote access software business RealVNC and health monitoring app Skin Analytics.

The award was presented to OpenSignal CEO Brendan Gill by Ed Vaizey MP, UK Minister for Culture, Communications and Creative Industries.

John Davies, Sector Specialist Mobile at UK Trade & Investment, said “The entries to the Smart UK Project showed the UK is incredibly strong in mobile innovation. However, the competition’s five finalists demonstrated the most potential when it came to global reach – a particular attribute the judges were looking for when making their selection.”
