Orders for over four million iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus handsets were placed within 24 hours last Friday, which means some customers won’t receive their new phones until October. However, retail stock will still be available in Apple stores on Friday this week.

Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO, said “iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are better in every way, and we are thrilled customers love them as much as we do. Pre-orders for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus set a new record for Apple, and we can’t wait to get our best iPhones yet into the hands of customers starting this Friday.”

Both phones were announced on Tuesday 9th September. The iPhone 6 has a 4.7-inch display, while the iPhone 6 Plus has a 5.5-inch display. Both include Apple’s A8 chip and will run iOS 8.
