Smartphone sales to rise while conventional mobile sales fall

You've got to be smart to sell. That's the message from Informa Telecoms & Media, which predicts that smartphone sales will grow 35.3% in 2009 while overall mobile phone sales will fall 10.1% year-on-year. And, in the next four years, the number of smartphone owners is expected to increase from 13.5% of all mobile users this year to 38% in 2013. This echoes recent figures from Juniper Research, who said last month that 23% of new phones in 2013 would be 'smart'. [Source: Telecoms.com]
