Text message record attempt ends with record bill

Two men from Philadelphia attempted to break the world record for the most text messages sent in a month… and ended up with a record-breaking bill instead. 29-year-old Nick Andes and 30-year-old Doug Klinger sent more than 217,000 texts between them, with Nick Andes sending 142,390 of the messages. However, his ‘unlimited’ text message allowance on his T-Mobile account had a 100,000-message fair usage limit, which resulted in a $26,000 bill. T-Mobile has subsequently waived the bill after Mr Andes assured them he wouldn’t repeat the attempt. There’s no word yet on whether the attempt has been accepted as a new record; in 2005 Deepak Sharma sent 182,689 SMS messages in one month. [Source: LancasterOnline.com]
