Motorola Mobility says 800 jobs are being cut

Motorola Mobility, which has just released its quarterly figures, has confirmed that it plans to cut its workforce by around 800 employees - a move that’ll cost it approximately $31 million. The job cuts are expected to take place before Google’s acquisition of the company and will not just be restricted to its US operations.

Google’s acquisition of Motorola is expected to be completed later this year or in early 2012, subject to legal approval.
