Palm Pre isn't going to dance on iPhone's grave

The Guardian has a cautionary tale about an interview given by Palm board member and investor Roger McNamee. In a conversation on Bloomberg TV and on Bloomberg.com, Mr McNamee was understandably enthusiastic about the new Palm Pre. However, Palm has now felt obliged to 'correct' his somewhat obvious hyperbole - which has rather taken the edge off the interview. Apparently it can't guarantee that the Pre is "going to run rings around" the Apple iPhone, the Pre may not do "a lot of things the others guys don't do" and as for "June 29 is the two-year anniversary of the first shipment of the iPhone. Not one of those people will still be using an iPhone a month later"... well, let's just forget about it. [Sources: Guardian.co.uk; Bloomberg.com; Palm.com]
