Two-way paging launches in the UK

In March we reported that PageOne was preparing to launch a two-way paging service in the UK. It’s happened this week… and before cynics make any comments about a similarity to text messaging, it’s worth pointing out that the company already offers an SMS gateway that helps send messages between remote workers and desk-based staff.

PageOne’s ICE (in case of emergency) pager provides delivery receipts and can automatically confirm that a message has been read and acted upon. It also incorporates GPS so that every reply message includes location information as well, making it well-suited to lone field-based workers. [Press release (pdf)]
