Smartphone prices are falling as demand increases

Smartphone prices are falling as shipment volumes are increasing, according to ABI Research. The company’s latest report says only 18% of smartphones on offer in 2007 were selling for under $200 but that percentage is already up to 27% this year. By 2014, the company reckons 45% of smartphones will be priced below $200.

It says this change is happening because consumers are increasingly aware of the benefits provided by smartphones. [Press release; report]
