AdMob reports six-fold mobile advertising increase in 2 years

AdMob has just published its September 2009 Mobile Metrics report along with a comparison of the devices it’s seen over the last three years. The report is based on the ad requests the company receives and processes from its network of more than 15,000 mobile web sites and – more recently - iPhone and Android applications too.

Two years ago, the most-popular handset receiving AdMob’s UK advertising was the Sony Ericsson K800i. Last year it was the Nokia N95 – and now it’s the Apple iPhone. In fact, 57.4% of UK ad requests are for the iPhone or iPod Touch.

The number of monthly ad requests worldwide in the AdMob network has increased 6.3 times over the past two years, from 1.6 billion in September 2007 to 10.2 billion in September 2009. [PDF report]
