Facebook is becoming a default mobile destination, says new study

The 2011 Mobile Internet Usage Report from CCS Insight has revealed that Facebook Messages, Chat and Photos are some of the most popular mobile services across Europe.

CCS Insight says Facebook is now one of the top three providers for messaging and could soon become a major destination for watching video clips. The survey showed strong growth for Facebook in all markets, with other more local social networks coming under pressure.

Paolo Pescatore, Director of Applications and Content at CCS Insight, said “Facebook is fast becoming the default destination for all things mobile. The mobile phone is now one of the most prolific consumer electronics devices on the planet. The exponential growth in service usage cannot be ignored and is reshaping the mobile market.”

Overall, more than 45% of survey respondents said they listened to music, played games and browsed the web on their mobile phones.
