Americans spend almost an hour every day on their smartphones

The latest Simmons Connect panel from Experian Marketing Services has shown that the average smartphone user in the USA spends 58 minutes on their device every day. Just over a quarter of this time (26%) is spent talking and another 20% sending text messages.

Next comes social networking at 16%, followed by mobile web browsing (14%), email (9%) and playing games (8%).

US-based adults with an Apple iPhone used their devices for an average 75 minutes per day, while the average Android owner only used their handset for 49 minutes. The study also noted that Android users spent more time talking and browsing the web than iPhone users, whilst iPhone users spent more time texting, emailing and social networking than Android users.
