EU roaming prices to fall from 1st July

The cost of using your mobile phone abroad in Europe will fall from 1st July 2009. Today the European Parliament has voted in favour of rules that will cut the cost of sending a text message from abroad in the EU to a maximum €0.11+VAT (around 12p) from 1st July. It’s also making further cuts to call charges, with the maximum permitted price dropping every year until summer 2012, and from March 2010 is introducing safeguards to protect consumers against unexpectedly high data bills.
