Skyfire mobile browser leaves beta

Version 1.0 of the Skyfire mobile browser has been launched, which means the PC-like mobile browser has left its beta stage. Over a million people have downloaded the beta version of the browser in the last five months. Its makers describe it as the only mobile browser to support rich media via web standards and plug-ins such as Flash 10, Silverlight 2, Ajax and Javascript. The new Skyfire 1.0 release launches faster than its predecessors and includes enhanced navigation, zooming and interaction. It runs on Symbian and Windows Mobile platforms, making it compatible with over 70% of the world’s smartphones. A BlackBerry version is currently being planned. [Press release (pdf)]
