O2 launches online mobile phone recycling service

O2 UK has launched its own online recycling service for mobile phones, MP3 players, digital cameras and satellite navigation systems. It pays for working devices and also donates £1 for each item to It’s Your Community, a charity run by O2 and The Conservation Foundation.

The recycling service is called O2 Recycle and is available to anyone in the UK regardless of the mobile network they may use. It’s being operated by recycling specialist Redeem plc. Users visit the web site, enter details of their product and request a pre-paid postage bag.

This is great! I was wondering when the big boys at o2 were going to do something green. It's good to see them following in Nokia's footsteps and providing people a way to recycle their mobile phones. But it also means it's going to have a helping effect on the environment too. Thanks for the headsup.
