Google's new mobile email acquisition drops iPhone support

Google has acquired reMail, a startup company that had created an email search program for the Apple iPhone and iPod touch. The company was created by Gabor Cselle, who'd helped build Xobni and had previously worked at Google. He'll now return to Google as a Product Manager on the Gmail team.

However, there's some criticism of both companies with the news that reMail's iPhone application is being discontinued. Existing customers can continue to use the software but it's no longer available in the Apple App Store.
