Motorola announces the world's first push-to-talk Android smartphone

Motorola has announced the world’s first push-to-talk Android-powered smartphone. It's called the Motorola i1 and is being released in partnership with US network operator Sprint. The Motorola i1 will be available from this summer, although it seems unlikely to be offered outside the USA.

Mark Shockley, senior vice president of Motorola Mobile Devices, said "Motorola remains focused on delivering differentiated Android experiences within our product portfolio. With the Motorola i1, we’re excited to offer iDEN users the opportunity to enjoy a feature-rich smartphone with push-to-talk, whether it’s for work or play."

The phone has a 3.1-inch display, a 5 megapixel camera and meets military 810F specifications for protection against dust, shock, vibration and blowing rain.
