Android smartphone owners want money-saving apps

A recent survey by LG – published as part of the launch campaign for the LG Optimus - says people using the Android operating system are particularly keen on applications that save them money. 25% of people surveyed said they most wanted a money-saving app (e.g. one that offers discount codes), followed by apps that saved time (9%) and apps to help them stay fit (9%). In fourth place were 'apps that help you shop for dinner' (8%) followed by apps for gaming (6%).

LG has calculated that the UK spends £422 million on mobile software applications each year, based on survey results that estimate 11 million smartphone users in the UK with each person spending an average £3.20 per month on apps.

Paul Trueman, LG's Marketing Director, said "This research has provided us with some very interesting insights into the app likes and dislikes of the nation. There is clearly a huge appetite for the continued development of apps and a hunger for even more innovation."
