Motorola and Research In Motion settle legal action

Motorola and Research In Motion have settled their legal action and have signed a licensing agreement. The two companies will license various patent rights to each other and will also transfer a number of patents. It ends a dispute that started when a previous licensing agreement ended in 2007.

As part of the agreement, Motorola will receive an up-front payment and ongoing royalties, although further terms and conditions are confidential.
