Walt Disney Company acquires iPhone game company Tapulous

The Walt Disney Company has acquired Tapulous, a two-year-old Californian company that develops music games for the iPhone. Tapulous created Tap Tap Revenge, a game that's been downloaded over 35 million times and installed by more than 30% of iPhone/iPod touch users. Other products from the company include Riddim Ribbon and iPad game Tap Tap Radiation. Tapulous will become part of the Disney Interactive Media Group.

In a blog post, Tapulous co-founder Bart Decrem said "As part of Disney Interactive Media Group, we’ll develop more games, more quickly and with the resources of the world’s leading entertainment company. We will continue to develop apps that live at the intersection of music and gaming, but we’ll also push into new and exciting areas of mobile social entertainment."
