Martin King, co-inventor of T9 predictive text, has died

We're sad to report that Martin King, founder of Tegic Communications and co-inventor of the T9 ('text on nine keys') predictive text system, has died. He was diagnosed with multiple myeloma five years ago.

Tegic Communications was acquired by AOL in 1999 and was later bought by Nuance.

Quentin Stafford-Fraser, a former colleague and one of his friends, has written an obituary at statusq.org.
